I've always been a big fan of APC. Their products work well and are easy to use. Buying from Amazon is the only way to go. I origianlly ordered the product directly from APC. I used their "upgrade" program which supposedly gives you a discount if you return your old unit. After 3 weeks I still hadn't recieved my product. After calling APC they informed me that the shipper never sent the product and I would have to wait another 10 days to get my product. Their customer service was terrible and provided no help to me. I cancelled the order and found the same exact product on Amazon for less money and I didn't even have to return the old unit. I received my product from Amazon in 2 days with free shipping and less cost then buying direct from APC. This UPS provides great back-up and Amazon provides great price, service and support.

I had an APC Backups 650 and the battery finally died after 9 years but needed a larger caoacity APC due to adding more "stuff", and this one had the best power back up capacity for what I needed. I received it a few days sooner than expected which was greatly appreciated since I was going without an APC until it arrived. The battery seemed to be already charged but I charged it up overnight anyway before putting it into service. One comment about battery backups in general: many under 1000VA do not put out a sine wave and this MIGHT be a problem for some newer energy efficient pc power supplies that require ONLY sine wave power instead of square wave or something in between.

After 1 month, I am happy with the BR900 We tend to get a fair number of quick, transient power outages here. The BR900 keeps my PC running just fine. I have had similar APC BR-series in Asia (220Volt). The one thing it had that this doesnt have is the s/w would record transient power issues. I am using APC PowerChute Personal Edition on Vista. It states "Note: Power problems of a very short duration are not recorded here" My European BR-series running PowerChute on XP would log all power events, even the short ones. Now, the lack of recording in my BR900 could be a "feature" of the Vista version of PowerChute rather than the BR900 itself. I wish it would record every type of power event that it handled. For example, it would be nice to get an idea of how often the voltage trim feature kicked in. I am considering purchasing more APC UPS, and I would like to now if i really need these trim features. Regardless of the logging, the BR900 is working and keeping my PC up and running
