Plugging in the cable to my laptop gives me a 'device drawing too much current, shutting down hub' warning. Bum cable, I'm guessing. It seems to be nicely made, and I love these retractable cables for travel, but if it doesn't work, it's worse than worthless.

It rolls up much more neatly and compactly than a normal cable and has worked with every device I have tried, providing both a data connect and power.

Simple!
Couldn't have asked for something better. This retractable USB cable works exactly as it was intended. I read from reviews that this cable is capable of powering a 2.0 USB external hard drive. I use this cable as mobile DJ and Karaoke host. I have my music and karaoke CD+G's on a 250gb USB powered hard drive, and have to set up equipment at different locations nightly. With this adjustable and retractable USB 2.0 A to Mini B cable, my setup is much easier. Its long enough to reach my needs, and it can be short enough as well. Like I stated before my HP DV6226us that I purchased from Comp USA has enough bus power in the USB's to run a 2.5" 250gb external hard drive, which makes this the perfect product for me. The cable looks thin, but can support the power needed for my hard drive. The cable itself feels sturdy and appears to be made to last through some wear and tear. Ultimately it saves space in my computer bag and does not tangle with other wires. I now have a retractable mouse, USB 2.0 A to Mini B, USB 2.0 A to B, and have a retractable S video cable on the way. The amount of space saved is amazing. This is the way to go folks. Its cheap and reliable. And if you wear it out, its cheap to replace.
