The PA-A3 port adapter is a generation of single-width, single-port, ATM, Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI)-based port adapters. The PA-A3 is supported in the Catalyst RSM/VIP2, Cisco 7100 series, Cisco 7200 series, and Cisco uBR7200 series routers, and the VIP2 and VIP4 in Cisco 7000 series and Cisco 7500 series routers. The PA-A3-T3 port adapters use a 75-ohm coaxial interface cable with BNC connectors to connect your router to an ATM T3 network. A single PA-A3-T3 contains one ATM T3 port (considered a DTE device )that consists of two connectors: a receive connector and a transmit connector. The Cisco-supplied 75-ohm coaxial cable, which comes with an attached ferrite bead and available in five different lengths: (10, 25, 50, 75, and 100 feet) has two BNC connectors that attach to the T3 port receptacles. The typical maximum distance between stations for T3 transmissions is 450 feet (137.2 meters).
