IOGEAR GCS1732 MiniView Extreme Multimedia KVMP Switch with Cables

   I bought this product because I had heard it would work with a wireless keyboard and mouse. I have the Microsoft Wireless 5000 keyboard and mouse and wanted my new Vista platform desktop to share the mouse, keyboard, monitor, audio and printer with my old reliable XP desktop. It seems to work just fine! There's even an additional usb slot for my external hard drive. Everything is connected and working well. The one thing I had problems with at first was that you have to hold the switch button for two seconds (not just a quick click) if you want ALL of the peripherals to be transferred to the other computer. I managed to miss this point when reading the documentation and couldn't understand why I was getting sound from one computer while the monitor, mouse and keyboard were working with the other. I finally caught that trick but it was easily missed if you're installing in a hurry. The upside is that you can put a CD in one computer and listen while working with a memory hog program on the other computer. I would recommend this product.

   It's a bit pricey and not exactly what I expected: PRO: Solid, switching can be fast, everything seems to work fine. CON: Takes 5-7 seconds to switch to another computer WHEN you want everything to switch. Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor are fast (see above)... but when you only click once the audio (CMON!!!) and the USB devices won't switch UNLESS you hold down the button 5-7 seconds. :( Since they're catering to advanced users, they kinda screwed this one up. Before purchasing I even called them to advise me on my purchase and walk through all the issues. This info is NOT: - on their site - in their manuals This info is ONLY: - available when you call them. Hopefully they'll take the feedback and make sure something like audio doesn't get pushed to the same kind of treatment as all usb devices (scanners, hard drives, printers). SERIOUS IMPROVEMENT NEEDED. I would think about buying another device if you don't like waiting or are quick on clicking (I often have to go back and then press and hold again).

   The product was pretty easy to connect to both computers, and it's sleek design is great.
