This powercord is slickly designed, but tends to overheat and eventually short out. I love that the indicator lights up to orange to tell you its charging, green to tell you it's charged, red if there is some kind of error. A little pricy, and not as reliable as some less flashy replacements that other companies make, but if you are like me, and you loved your OEM power cord, this is the replacement for you.

I've had the same problem with my power cord -- it started fraying and shredded itself at the connection point to the computer. Obviously it was poorly designed, but when I went to the Apple store for a replacement, they said the warrantee wouldn't cover it and that I would have to buy a new one for ninety bucks(!). So, I taped it up the frayed connection and have limped along ever since. This is after I went through three defective iBooks and PowerBooks with bad batteries, faulty logic boards, etc. Plus an iPod that self-destructed and won't reboot. I think I'm beginning to see a pattern here. Nice to see all the comments on Amazon that show that I'm not the only one and that I wasn't "misusing" the product. I've been a loyal Apple user since 1989, but I'm starting to rethink that position. Instead of rolling out newer, flashier products every six months, Steve Jobs might want to take a look at quality control so that he actually *keeps* the customers he's gaining now (as well as old-timers like myself) Consumers aren't going to stick with a company that charges a lot of money for shoddy merchandise.
