I bought my X2 in June of 2004. It has a good picture, and I like the projector for ease of use. However, after 1.5 years, and 700 hours, the bulb blew. I was disappointed, but figured the bulb blowing less than half its estimated life was just bad luck. I paid $300 and got a new bulb. It just blew on me after less than 500 hours. For the price they charge, they need to stand behind their bulbs! A 90 warranty? Are you kidding me!? If they can't give their customers more than 90 days on a $300 bulb, they should lose their customers. I will never buy Infocus again! Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, I never move my projector around or miss treat it. I also always let the fan run for hours after I use the projector to make sure the bulb is cooled completely.

As a K-12 librarian in Menasha, WI, I need to make presentations to classes. In Sept 2005 I bought a brand new Infocus X2. It did a fantastic job. Two months later the school got two projectors so I brought mine home to use as a home theater. For a year my family watched television and movies on the big screen and it was great. When the bulb went out, the cost of replacement lamps sent me into shock. $300 for a bulb? I decided to purchase a 42 inch flat screen TV instead. The projector sits as a possible back-up, if I ever buy a bulb.

I too have an X2 for the past 2 years and have now started seeing a verticle shadow on the right side of the screen, as well as the bearings making the "buzz-saw" sound until it heats up. I'm glad I saw this review since I have not been able to find any information about this shadow issue. I had no idea it was due to parts being glued in the hottest part of the device! Yikes! It gets great picture and has been a really good projector for our home theater until this issue. I won't buy another Infocus item because of the service issues and the BBB rating of the company. But it was a great intro home theater projector for the price at the time. Saved us 2 years worth of movie tickets at least. Steer clear of this brand if you want to get more than 2 years of average use out of it.

Decent price but you get what you pay for. The speakers have no mid range capabilty, and the bass response is poor. I bought this system with the intention of replacing a 2.1 logitech ($50 at Sam's Wholsale) on my main TV. I bought it for the remote capabilty...my current required me to go to the TV to lower/raise the volume. Dissappointed with sound, but like the remote. I'll probably replace with a higher end system at a later date...back to walking to TV for volume for now.

Altec Lansing VS4221 speakers have good sound with convenient remote control. This unit actually improves the sound quality of my TV. Good price at Amazon.

These speakers meet all expectaions. Deliver excellent sound quality. Only thing is the control remote is not necessary. Controls would be better if on the speakers themselves. Otherwise, this is a good value.

I bought this audio card so that my PC (Microsoft XP operating system) that I'm using as a media center has an optical output for my stereo. I followed the installation directions (install disk included) and had no problem installing the card. I connected the optical output to my stereo and I confess that the sound quality brought a bit of a tear to my eye - It was that good! CD's that I had previously ripped to the computer (high quality setting) sounded better than from my CD player. I could tell that the surround was working on the CD's. There is a separate install for WinDVD for this card - I already had WinDVD installed on my machine. I played a DVD and it sounded great too! There are other (somewhat cheaper) versions of audio cards with optical audio out. But read the reviews like I did - Some of them have installation issues. And I don't think the cheaper versions output computer generated surround tracks in the optical audio output. The price was quite reasonable for what I got. The card has jacks for analog 7.1 audio - but I'm not using that. Now a word about why I wanted optical audio output: I'm an electronic engineer. Computers are electrically very noisy for analog signals. All that digital processing, switching power supplies, and questionable analog signal grounding create a lot of audio noise on the computer ground and analog audio outputs. By using an optical output from the computer to my stereo I eliminate these noise sources from the audio path. And it works! Before using analog outputs from the computer to my stereo, I didn't so much notice "noise" as I noticed an apparent lack of dynamic range in music. The noise tends to fill in the quiet spots in the audio. Also, going to 24 bit sound helps dynamic range quite a lot! It's a great sound card for hooking into a stereo and listening to music if you have optical inputs on your stereo. And, if you don't have optical inputs on your stereo - It's time to step into the 21st century! Chazzz

I made a serious mistake when buying this product, my own fault. Although it does exactly what it says it does, know that it does not pass through a DD 5.1 signal to any external amplifier. DD Live does a fine job with stereo material, but it has no LFE when feeding it a 5.1 source if you use this, its best to feed it nothing but stereo files. Its great for its various formats, but if I had read all the reviews, I woulda purchased something else.

I purchased this card specifically so I could use its coaxial S/PDIF connection to output DVD surround sound to my receiver. Everything worked well until I attempted to play a DVD using the S/PDIF output. My computer would blue screen of death as soon as anything but PCM stereo went out. It appears that a fine piece of hardware was soiled by a poor driver. Since I don't have an analog surround input in my receiver I'm unable to speak for the quality of the analog surround outputs. However, the software interface for setting up and testing the output was very easy to use.

Is it my fault? Maybe. But I choose to blame Microsoft for deploying both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista that each require a different driver for identical pieces of hardware. This is one such piece of hardware. And the only Vista driver offered is not compatible with the 64-bit version. The card arrived quickly, at least...

I can't believe the price on this little jewel. It sounds fantastic! I am not a gamer or anything, so I don't no all those technical terms, but this card rocks. It beats anything on my three media center computers. I really love the seperation, and the fact that theres two pdif connectors. It even sounds great on movies. Some of the gamers might not like it because they are willing to spend over a hundred dollars+ for a sound card, but for the price, I really like this card.

These speakers have a decent sound, but aren't even loud enough to fill a small room. After a couple months of using them off and on, the 3.5mm stereo plug died and can only get a connection if it's turned at a certain angle. Overall, it is a mediocre speaker system.

The speakers are great! From the moment you lift the box you will realize that this is a very light shipment. THe design is simple and elegant, the speakers are not so big that they distract from your computer, or too small that they are easily dismissed. It takes almost no time to set up everything to the computer and begin to enjoy them. These are definitely a must have for anyone who wants good speakers and does not want to spend too much on them.

I just bought these and so far so good. No hissing or static as reported on other sites. Sub has plenty of thump for online games and video clips. Not exactly theater quality. Definetly recommend for the price.

I purchased this card to use with an internal Blue-ray player, and found it would not output DTS digital 5.1 or 7.1 from the optical SPDIF port (stereo worked OK). When I called technical suppoort they told me that the card did not support either DTS (contrary to claim on box), or Blu-ray. The box indicated that the card would support DVD multi channel playback in either DTS or Dolby digital.

I bought this sound card over a year ago and have been very happy with it. Sound is great with all my games and movies. Only drawback is I cant download a new driver due to Diamond Multimedia's website having some issues. Buy it and you shouldn't be disappointed. One other drawback, I can't find 7.1 speakers locally

Please be warned that there aren't any drivers for Windows XP 64. If you have that operating system you will have to install the "XP recommended" Matrox drivers which do not allow you to take full advantage of this product. For my purposes ('Digital In' from my Yamaha MO6 Keyboard) it works fine with the recommended windows drivers. Otherwise, good product.

This product was exactly what I hoped it would be. Sturdy, quality peice. While it is not hi fidelity by any stretch of the imagination, it is clear and functional and has the appropriate volume range. it is also very asthetic. the front panel outputs for headphones and speaker are extremely useful too.

This is the exact speaker the I.T. department gave me at work. For a laptop with limited deskspace, these are great sounding, so I got a pair for home. True audiophiles or gamers may not be impressed, but I happen to think they have great sound and fit my needs. Plus, they are small enough to be somewhat portable. I tried to buy these locally, but the style/model has changed and I really did not care for the stand on the newer model as it looked really cheap, and not well put together. The stand on these older style speakers looks much better and appears to be much sturdier. Any big box retailer has a selection of 2.0 channel PC speakers in this price range, but some have such a low output, they are not even worth trying. These CA speakers are a cut above.
