I love the Viewsonic 2435, but the recommended resolution yields the text too small for my taste. I use a resolution of 1280 by 768, full screen for best combination or resolution and text size. Ideally, they would maximize the resolution with larger text size.

If you plan on purchasing a viewsonic monitor, be advised. Viewsonic does not warranty their product if you clean it with any non approved cleaning substances. Viewsonic, according to customer service representatives, do not currently have ANY approved cleaning products, and do not recommend touching your screen in any manner for cleaning or color calibration. Touching your screen in anyway constitutes abuse and voids your warranty as customer damage. Viewsonic also does not recommend using ANY color calibration devices on your monitor, as it constitutes customer abuse and is not covered under warranty. I write this because I had a view sonic monitor, calibrated it, and cleaned the "recommended way" and the anti glare coating started pealing off. Even though the products website said it was approved by Viewsonic. Viewsonic said tough it is not our problem that you damaged you monitor, you voided your warranty by cleaning it. I share this as a warning. the monitor was good while it lasted the first month.

This is my third Viewsonic monitor. I actually bought the VG2021m several months ago and it is working just fine. However, I wanted to try out a large widescreen monitor so I bought the VX2435wm monitor. This monitor is out of sight. It is extremely colorful. I love the widescreen display as I am in the IT field and often have several applications open at one time.

I'm not a professional picture editor, and you probably aren't either. Everyone who has seen this monitor in my home has commented favorably on it, and I have to say that I'm quite satisfied. Chances are, if you are looking for a terrific monitor at a price that won't bankrupt you, this may be it. I haven't seen any of the problems that some of the reviewers have claimed. Bigger is better, and I'm not complaining.

After using dual monitors for the last ten years it is such a relief to be able to use just one again. Not having that line in the middle is great! It Plays HD full screen and everything fits. I actually keep some windows like email, web and word.doc about 1/2 size and centered. Most web pages are not designed to expand to HD size and some programs work better in smaller windows. With 3D modeling, animation, video editing and graphics you give up a tiny bit of detail moving from a CRT but what you get in return is so worth it. I can finally fit everything in one monitor, see it and use it. Being able to see more of your 3D model and get closer to it helps a lot. This ability is invaluable. This monitor is like having four full screen views of a quad and when switching to single screen you see everything and more. What a pleasure! You can see so much more of what you are doing. It makes the creation process go so much faster. I would like to be able to remove the base of the monitor as my desk is the perfect height for viewing and resting my elbows. You wouldn't think 3-7 inches would make a difference but it does. I might have to cut the desk legs down or break the base off. Not sure which way to go with that yet. I am glad the speakers are build in but would rather have a smaller frame. The frame would look better a a flat black rather than a shiny reflective gloss black. The menu is a bit limited and I have not grasped why some features are grayed out when you try to use them. Not a lot of adjustment is necessary as it works just fine. I had some trouble with HDMI out from the video card to HDMI in on the monitor. It pushes the image off screen 2 inches on all sides. So plan to use the dvi/vga input cable instead. This was with the Nvidia 9800 GX2. Maybe HDMI input works with other video cards? With a blank screen and a solid color you can see a c shaped gradient on all sides from a distance; however, when up close as in normal use with a program open everything appears as a solid color. I am not sure why this happens? Many years ago I paid $800 each for two 17 inch flat screen CRTs and many years after that, 600 each for two 19 inch CRTs before I purchased this one 28 inch wonder. I was scared to do it. I almost purchased two 20s for 250 each but took a gamble on this one. It was a little weird getting used to one monitor again but EVERYTHING is so much better. I will never go back to dual monitors again !! I am looking forward to the 2K version . . .

This monitor is o.k., it's Viewsonic warranty support that is shoddy at best. After 10 months mine developed a line of dead pixels top to bottom. They approved my unit for "express replacement". It took a month for them to order a replacement, they kept saying they had "inventory problems". Then they tell me it'll be another 10-15 working days for delivery. A month and a half to replace it, under express replacement - save yourself the aggravation, look elsewhere.

Three DVI inputs is great, but there is only ONE USB input. Without USB input switching ability HP should have just left off the USB entirely. Inclusion of USB hub input switching feature wouldn't be earth shattering. The Mitsubishi 2020u from 1998 had two upstream USB ports and could automatically flip the USB input when the video input was changed.

Overall a good monitor but even after using my monitor profiling system the colors are excessively saturated. The Samsung 305T 30 inch monitor has much better color. If you are doing color critical work I would be concerned. However, if you are doing general work, surfing, or gaming this is a great product.

I have been using this monitor for four months now and plan to get a second in the very near future. The colours are true, display is sharp and bright. And there is nothing like working on a big screen. It delivers exactly as promised with one very minor shortcomming, like all 30" monitors on offer at the moment it only works at full resolution, there is no scaling chip to support downgraded resolutions. This does not matter if you are using it with a graphics card that can support the full resolution as the issue is known and the cards will do the scaling if necessary. The only practical limitation is that you cannot plug this monitor into a machine that does not support its native resolution. This is not a likely to be a problem as you are not likely to buy it unless you have a machine that can drive it! At the moment the graphics card settup will set you back almost as much as the monitor or more if you have an SLI setup. I looked at the Dell and Apple alternatives. The HP is somewhat cheaper and has both a built in DVI switch and USB 2.0 hub. According to the specs you can only drive dual link DVI over 15 ft of cable but I have this working fine over a 50 ft cable driven by an nVidia 8800 GTS.

After buying a number of Viewsonic monitors over the years I found them to be a fairly good brand. However my recent experience with that company was less than acceptable by ANY standards. This unit failed several months ago and I sent it in to get fixed. I got it back and since I bought a Samsung to replace it, didn't hook it up until a few months later. It lasted two days before blowing up completely. I called them and after more than a hour on hold, finally was told that they would replace the monitor with another unit. I shipped it back to the warehouse and they recieved it on Dec 13th. That was the last I heard from them. I called again and waited on hold for another hour until the rep came on only to tell me that this model was not in stock and she couldn't tell me just when it would ship but said she would contact me the next day with a status report. This didn't happen so I called their "support" number and this time was on hold for TWO HOURS until someone condescended to answer the call. I am told that the reason for the unseemly delay is that there were only FIVE (5) support reps because they had closed their support center on the east coast and they were "short-handed" at the Walnut, CA facility. I then discover now that the monitor that was to have been replaced was out of stock but was due in a week from today. When the rep tried to put this replacement into the system, (again, on hold for another 20 minutes) the system (new, by the way as of December 2nd)tossed out the request because the monitor was now out of warranty! I tried to explain that it had failed the second time only two days after installation but all they could see was that it was "out of warranty". I've done a LOT of business with Viewsonic for the last ten years and have probably spent upwards of $20,000. Never again will I do business with that company unless they send me the cost of that monitor or at least send a replacement. Even then, I will be looking at Samsungs from now on as my first choice.

I have had a number of ViewSonic LCD Monitors over the years and this one seemed a bit off in the color & brightness/contrast department. I have a VP2030b which I prefer. The D-SUB & DVI-A/D connectors and height adjustment are handy.

This monitor is a terrific value if you are looking for a 21" monitor that is not a widescreen style. Contrast, brightness, and viewing angle compares favorably to monitors costing hundreds of dollars more. I have not had any trouble in the first few months I have owned it and I will purchase another one for work.

I bought this to replace a 19" CRT monitor & couldn't be happier. I don't even have a digital video card, but the quality on this screen is still amazing. I also have very sensitive eyes as far as computer screens in general - I get frequent headaches & such, but I can stare at this screen for extended periods of time with no pain. The controls are easy to use - all buttons on the front of the screen, versus some manufacturers side-button placement. The included software is very self-explanatory & does not require any technical expertise. I have limited desk space & the stand takes up very little of it. I do recommend going to an office supply store or electronics store & playing with various brands before choosing one - the brightness, color depth, resolution, & control placement are major things that you really should see in person.

      Samsung 940Be
This is a nice monitor in the pricing 'sweet spot' for 19"ers. I found I needed to set the brightness and contrast WAY down to be more comfortable on the eyes. I also noticed the color reproduction on this particular monitor did not give true, and this could not be adjusted.nVery nice response time and saw not shadowing during fast action shooter game play.
Pros: Has a nice response time for fast action gaming. Easily viewable in bright light.
Cons: Brightness and contrast set too high from factory. Color reproduction is off across the spectrum.
