I'll be the first to admit Monster has some what I believe to be overpriced interconnectors, however you cannot argue their quality. I don't believe this particuliar cable is overpriced. The connecting end has thick molded grips which helps to relieve stress at the wires end, I am using 2 of these and at least on my receiver a Onkyo TX-SR805 the grips are not to thick to create a problem with multiple connections. (I read a review that someone had that problem?) It connects firmly and locks into place, so there is less chance that while you are back there cleaning, or connecting/disconnecting other components, or moving the placement of your amp a tad, you have less chance of unknowingly disconnecting this cable. I had cheaper optical cable and this had been the case. The cheaper brand? Sure it did it's job, perhaps no less efficiently than this cable, however it did not lock into place and on more than one occasion, I found I had no audio and sure enough the cheaper brand was found disconnected. There is a difference between basement priced cables and this one. Namely quality of materials, durability, longevity and many will argue sound quality. If you have a good quality system, don't skimp on the cables, after all they are a key part in providing music to your ears. I highly recommend this cable, for under $20.00 you could do much worse.

When you buy things, especially online, you want them to work the first time around... that's what these cables did. As soon as i made the connection to the components, I heard the reassuring click... it's connected. Monster cable lived up to their name and the shopping on Amazon continues to be a great experience.

I will let you know that you are wasting your money on this. I bought a similar cable from eBay for my Pioneer sound system for $8. I have to say that I could not see a single difference in performance. I really regret paying over a $30 for a cable. I just realized that its digital and not analog and the whole point of digital is to be uniform and consitant in the data being transmited so the medium doesnt count like old component cables, Save your money and just look on eBay or other cheaper types.
