I bought this item and it didn't work right out of the box. I returned it and got a replacement - it worked great for about 6 weeks, used only about a dozen times. It no longer works and the return period has expired. I do not recommend this product, seems to have significant quality issues.

For some reason it does not play DVDs. Buy if only you are looking to use as a CD player on your computer.

I bought the Targus PADVD010U to load software onto an ACER Net Book. The device was plug and play with no problems at all. Seems to be well made and the wires/cables seem substantial and sturdy.
