Pool light transformers are not toys

Well you can only imagine the excitement that ran through me when I saw this topic.
“They made a Transformer that turns into a pool light? Is it an Auto-Bot or Decepticon? Oh, not that kind of Transformer. Oh I get it, you can transform your pool light! Like so it makes different colors? Like if you’re going to have a rave in your pool? Really? Not that kind of transformer either. Oh…it’s an electrical transformer that supplies power to your pool light.”
Yeah, not quite as exciting as the first two. But I signed on for it, so here’s what to look for in a pool light transformer.
First off it needs to be 12 volts, which is fairly standard so no problem there. It should be corrosion proof since it will be outside and get wet. With that said, it also needs to be grounded. For those who are unfamiliar, grounded means that there is a copper rod literally stuck in the ground that is attached to the transformer. This directs any rogue current into the ground instead of you. Most also have circuit protection that will shut the transformer down if there is a defect or power overload.
Make sure you get your transformer installed by a licensed professional unless you want to electrocute yourself and either acquire super powers or the ability to hear women’s thoughts (note: I’m pretty sure both of those things were movie and didn’t actually happen. Seriously, get a professional).
Most pool light transformers are priced in the $60-$90 range, which shouldn’t be a problem since you can afford your own pool, moneybags.
