The PortServer II is Digi's entry level terminal server that connects clusters of sixteen high speed serial ports to TCP/IP Ethernet networks. It is also upgradeable to 64 ports. Each surge protected serial port provides full modem control and hardware flow control with up to 115.2 kbps performance. The Digi PortServer is ideal for connecting cash registers to a host in point-of-sale applications, or for connecting terminals in database applications such as travel reservations and information services. It is also a smart solution for kiosk management applications and small ISP's. In remote access environments, such as running Microsoft's NT solutions, PortServer's NT RealPort driver allows you to use Windows NT RAS and Windows NT-based Citrix dial-out modem applications. In Novell's NetWare Connect environments, PortServer modem connections are made via RealPort's AIO NetWare Loadable Module (NLM). In heterogeneous networks, the serial ports on the PortServer can be shared by different hosts and different operating systems running TCP/IP. A PortServer Terminal Server with the Windows NT RealPort allows users to attach serial devices that can communicate with the server. It also allows the devices to be used transparently as though they were directly connected to the Windows NT Server via an Ethernet backbone. The Digi PortServer front panel displays the information needed to monitor both asynchronous and Ethernet line activity. LED indicators display all RS-232 signal
