Have used a previous Visioneer 9450 USB scanner for a year with good performance. The ADF has problems with a single page, but generaly works well. I ordered a new one for backup and find that the same model number is NOT the same product. It has been upgraded to USB 2, is lead free, faster, etc. But the TWAIN driver has been changed and no longer supports color dropout. I am returning the scanner because color dropout is a must have feature for my use. I am unhappy and disappointed with Visioneer, but still recommend the scanner if it has the features you need.

PURCHASE YOUR EPSON PRODUCT THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR FROM EPSON DIRECTLY. This is not a review of this product, but rather a word to the wise... Two and half months after my purchase of an Epson 10000XL scanner through Amazon, it stopped working. Through the followup and tech support process I learned that, because I purchased through Amazon, the manufacturer nor the seller would honor the 1 year warranty. Epson's position is that Amazon is not an authorized seller and that they merely act as broker for what can often be re-furbished or second hand merchandise. So, should your purchase break or malfunction, as mine did, you are out of luck with regard to warranty. This lesson cost me $2400.00

I have never had a product this easy to set up and use. I absolutely love it. It is fast and puts the photos right into iPhoto hassle free. Truly one step scanning. I also own a HP printer #6980 and it is the best printer I have ever owned. Flawless printing.

The scanner is very large, it takes a lot of desk space. I use it to scan three dimensional objects and it does a good job. I do not use it for scanning negatives.

I spent the best part of a day trying to install the scanner, without success. After the second call to HP Tech Support, it was declared defective and to be returned. I accepted a second G4050 scanner. Spent another day with phone calls and no success. I would then spend two consecutive hours on the phone to HP Tech Support, with no success. Later that day a repeat with a different technician for another two hours. I returned the device with regret, because I liked the ability to scan sixteen 35mm slides-if it works.

Had to download driver to operate on my Vista machine. Also the SCANSOFT PaperPort CD that came with Visioneer 9450 was not compatible with Vista, so had to go to SCANSOFT site to download upgrade. Also had to call Visioneer technical support regarding the connections, since the instructions weren't 100% clear. After finally loading the right Vista driver and software, and making the correct connections, the Visioneer scanner has worked well.

I've had my Visioneer 9450 for four years and it's worked flawlessly. The ADF feature is a real time saver and mine came with ADOBE Acrobat, so the scanned files are automatically saved as PDF documents if I don't want to waste disk space with JPG or GIF type images. I've used OCR software with pretty good results and I'd recommend it for anyone in a home office environment.

I've owned two predecessors to this scanner - but they are about the same. The ADF on the first gave up during the warranty period and Visioneer replaced it. The second one (the whole scaner)gave up about a year outside the warranty period, so it's a goner. It's a fairly servicable scanner for the price (when it works), although it really only allows you to feed about 5 to 7 documents at a time. I like the Paperport software. Although there is better OCR software available, the Paperport is versatile, easy to use, and generally gets the job done.

I spend $30 returning the scanner. The scanner won't scan image of document only to Word File. Then some of the images does not scan too well. Emailed Customer Service. Took them FIVE days just to ask me what my problem was. Got so FRUSTRATED returned the product. Never have to return an Electronic product , so my husband threw away box. End up having to spend $30 just repacking and reshipping. Save the boxes! Don't think I will buy from unknown maker. Stick to HP's or well known brand!

I have a Microtek scanner and just downloaded the latest drivers. It turns out Microtek wants a program called Scan Finder to load at every start-up, and there is no way to disable this. The product works satisfactorily, but for my money, I will purchase something else. Something that doesn't create such a nuisance, and isn't so invasive.

Have purchased multiple ScanMaker 5950 units to use for work and will do so again as needed. Easy to use, pretty much plug and play and scanning is very fast when you have multiple documents to work with at once.
