Cisco Catalyst 4000 Gigabit ENET 12-1000BX (GBIC Slots)

The Catalyst 4912G Layer 2 Switch has (12) fixed Gigabit Ethernet ports (GBIC). At 1.5 RU high, this unit is optimally designed for fast, easy rack or stack deployment. With intelligent EtherChannel technology scalable to 8Gbps, the Catalyst 4912G's high-performance architecture supports: 24Gbps total, non-blocking backplane capacity, more than 18 million pps throughput, 16,000 MAC addresses and 1024 VLANs. Depending upon network configuration requirements, the Catalyst 4912G's Gigabit uplink ports can be configured with a variety of interfaces. Supported GBICs include 1000BaseSX shortwave or 1000BaseLX/LH longwave modules. As requirements changes, GBICs (available seperately) can be easily and inexpensively swapped.The Catalyst 4912G supports a broad range of fault-tolerant resiliency features including: an external redundant power supply (sold separately), multiple load sharing trunks (Gigabit EtherChannel), multiple spanning trees, and fast convergence with Cisco's PortFast and UplinkFast software. The full feature set of Catalyst system software is also supported for seamless interoperability with other Catalyst Switches. Major software features include: advanced scalability (Gigabit EtherChannel, Dynamic VLANs, 802.1Q Trunking), bandwidth management (QoS, protocol filtering, link load balancing), network resiliency (UplinkFast, PortFast, Spanning Tree), security (per-port security, authentication, IP permit lists), and advanced management (embedded RMON, SNMP, CiscoView, CiscoWorks2000). Management support includes: inboard console via terminal/modem, outboard via Telnet, SNMP, CiscoView, CWSI, and CiscoWorks 2000.
