The DIR-450 seemed to work at first, but within 1 hour it went into power reset/cycling over and over. Hard reset, power off/on, nothing worked. D-Link tech support worked with me for 25 minutes and gave up. He said the unit appeared to be defective and told me to return it to the store (Fry's). From the other postings, a DOA unit seems to be way too common. I am looking for a different manufacturer now.

The D-link Mobile router has been one of the best tools for my business. I needed a device that allows me to connect several IP devices to a network and connect them to my office in Austin in order to demo our capabilities. I now have a mobile demo kit. Installation was very easy. Great product!!!

Hi All, I've had this thing for a couple of years. I use it with Verizon Wireless service and a PCMCIA adapter. It's fine. It works. Glitches? Yep, it flakes out on you now and then. Problems mostly seem to stem from Verizon's service in my case. I've noticed increasingly flakey behavior around drive-time and lunchtime when (I suspect) the cellular traffic is highest. Yep, I had this thing lose it's mind once. I simply reconfigured it and got it going again. That's a nuissance. But once a year is not really a big problem in my book. I have used this all accross the US. And the performance is generally better than using the Verizon card natively in my laptop. The two things that probably make for problems are as follows: First, the service providers oversubscribe their services, and Second, a lot of people are less-than-stellar at configuring wireless networks. (No offense, I know that a lot of this s**t is rather arcane.) Buy this if you feel like it. It will probably be just fine. Note that I just bought a Kyocera KR2 to try it out as an alternative. Good luck.
