Just to clarify on what people have said, so that there's no misunderstanding. There are 2 general types of reviews out there, one rating the product immediately upon receipt and one after burn-in. The sound difference is considerable. When I first tried out the SE530, I kinda liked them. They were my first high end earbud, and I didn't know what to expect. The mids and highs were nearly crystal clear. The bass was very pronounced but lacked definition somewhat. Overall, it sounded very well. After some unknown amount of time, I was listening to these earbuds and I realized for the first time...they sounded better than I remembered it did. The bass was especially punchy, defined, tight, and very engaging. The mids and highs remained ultra clear, but I do not remember whether it was an improvement over the previous sound. But they sure as heck sounded good. Bottomline, these buds require time to be burned in. Many reviews on here neglected the burn-in process and consequently gave some negative impressions.

I have to admit I was curious as to what difference the double woofers would make in earphones and I was quite surprised by the base response and range of the 530s. I also have to admit that I have a pair of e4C and they are put together a bit more ruggedly than the 530s - I miss being able to change and clean individual parts although I have never replaced anything on my original e4C - the 530s are just a step up in music quality but the sound stage is impressive especially for such a small package - and I'm actually starting to hear different parts in the same recordings I used to listen to with my old earphones that I didn't know existed before ! Definitely worth getting if you can afford them, it's worth the money is you're serious about your music and the sound isolation is great !

Great earphones. I bought these for air travel and they did not disappoint. Almost all background noise is blocked due to their earplug style configuration and the sound is superb. I do not use the included PTH adapter as I have little to no difficulty removing/installing these earphones to speak to flight attendants and I like to remain as electronic free as possible when traveling. I have traveled with many styles of headphones (most requiring batteries for noise canceling which these do not) and none have proven themselves to have the sound quality, comfort and compactness of these earphones. There are many more adapters and configurations available than I will probably ever use but as someone that never throws away a neat connector, adapter or gadget - this earphone package is simply awesome. The wires feel a bit flimsy and I expect to have issues with them over time as others have commented in their posts; otherwise I would have rated at 5 stars.
