This product worked out of the box, but the video image quality was not good and the mouse generated random right clicks from time to time. I had connected the local and remote unit with 50 ft of solid CAT5E cable and 25 ft of stranded, flexible patch cable. The manual states that you MUST use SOLID CAT5E or CAT6 cable, so I got rid of the patch cable and ran new SOLID cable end to end. Video image quality is now great, and the mouse/keyboard operation is solid - no problems at all. If I did it again, I would spend the extra $20 or so and get the model which supports the audio as well. I missed the sound in my monitor's speakers :(
