I looked everywhere to figure out if this would work with my $100 buck PC (bought it from my boss) nice guy. I could only find maybes. For the price, I thought, what the heck. Bought it, installed it (a breeze), hit the go button, waited... Ba Ba Bing--IT'S ALIVE. Now I can even run XP pro. Now I think I'll see if I can cram a 512 in it. Wish me luck. DDE-NorCal.

I purchased 2 of these to max out the RAM in my Compaq Presario 1700US Notebook. What a STEAL!!! If you order the same memory (at another retail store), 256Mb costs (more) plus shipping, so I saved about $250 by purchasing two RAM chips here! I made the mistake of believing that I had to use OEM RAM for it to work properly. This memory works very well, and your computer will surely benefit.I am now running 512 RAM in my notebook, and this thing is FAST. The default configuration of 192Mb was not bad, but now I'm running a multi-boot OS with Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro with ease. I also regulary use RAM intensive programs such as Photoshop and Sound Forge and having a lot of memory saves a lot of time and makes everything run smooth.Do yourself a huge favor and upgrade your laptop NOW while RAM is cheap!

I have been a bit scared to buy this item when I read the other not so encouraging preview. Though, it seemed to be what I needed for my laptop so I decided to buy it. I have absolutelly no problem with it, and it works fine. Remove the battery, clik the memory in and start. My config : A Compaq Presario Laptop 1800FR (1GHZ, comes with 128MB of Ram, 64 soldered and 64 on a DIMM like this one). I am now up to 320MB. I did not expect to see some major improvements with the speed of my machine as it was nearly never swaping before. But for sure I did not lose any performance in the deal.Cheers.
